The purpose of an Opening Sequence is to help introduce Characters, Editors, Producers and other creators of a film. It is also a good way to set the mood and scenary by adding a releavant sound track.

The Busy Traffic Represents a working day at rush hour. |
After looking at each of the opening credits for Office Space, Train Spotting and Sweeny Todd i have been asked to analyis the three.
Firstly in Office space we come across the commonly known 20th Century Fox Company credit. In most films this is usually shown at the beginning of the film. The film opens with a lively sound track at 23 seconds in. This use of editing sraight away gives the viewer a sign that it is a comical genre. Seeing the busy traffic also helps to convey a early morning, work realated movie. Especially when thinking about the title of the film as well. Another give away that this film is a comedy is at 53 minutes in when the man in the car notices that an elderly pidestrian is moving faster than the traffic.
In Sweeny Todd it uses the Opening credits in a completly different way compared to Office space as it is all done in CGI (Computer Generated Imaging). This is because it has not had included the characters, instead blood trailing through many objects and rooms. These, most likely replecating the scenary of the actual film. The theme of blood throughout suggests a horror genre.
For Trainspotting again the Opening Credits differ again as instead of themed music, the sequence contains a voice over describing the characters and yet again helps to do the job of setting the scene. Pausing graphics introduce the actors involved.
